Everybody loves Bristol. Not only for its picturesque harbour, its Georgian streets, and its beautiful setting on the River Avon, but also for its lively music scene, world-class restaurants and beautiful countryside surroundings. Located in the south west of England, Bristol’s setting can only be described as idyllic.
Riverside views surrounded by rolling hills and the city’s very own 400 acres of parkland known as The Downs all do their bit to attract tourists in their thousands. Once here, visitors can expect a city that revels in its pre-Victorian heritage with plenty of Georgian squares, crescents and churches to feast your eyes on. And when you’re not gawping at the magnificent buildings, you’ll no doubt be down at the trendy harbour checking out the bars, restaurants cafes and museums.
Escape rooms have popped up all over the city this year, but there is one that has quickly become far more infamous than the rest. Not for the faint of heart, Hell in a Cell has taken up residency in the depths of the Old Crown Court prison cells, promising torment from a sadistic serial killer and nightmares for weeks to come. At the very least you'll see a whole new side to Bristol...if you make it out.
The Paintworks certainly know how to put on a good party, and this October they're back with another gin extravaganza. The House of Gin brings the best of British distilling into one room, offering tastings aplenty as well as a boutique bar and bespoke cocktails. Get hold of a glass when doors open at 6pm and drink the night away.
Bath's favourite shoe designer Chantal Pilon has made the leap over to Bristol, opening a pop-up shop in Quakers Friars this summer. Chanii B has become internationally renowned for its trend led and beautifully crafted footwear, leading the way with its bold and highly textured aesthetic. We can't help but drool over this season's iridescent shoes and accessories; with everything from sandals to brogues, it's definitely justifiable to invest in the whole collection to see you through the summer. chaniibshoes.com
