Then journey south and dip your toe in the turquoise blue waters lapping Playa Sotavento. Here you’ll enjoy the perfect blend of Atlantic and Saharan winds as you take part in a whole host of watersports.

King's day on the evening 5th January. The three kings parade down the streets on Camels in the main towns to collect the gift request for the following day. Children line the streets to collect sweets that they throw out.
Visit Gran Tarajal, the second-most-populated town in Fuerteventura. The key feature is the volcano rising up to make an amazing backdrop. This typically Spanish town has many shops and restaurants predominantly owned by Canarians. The black beach and long promenade is a stunning setting for a good day out.
Visit Cofete on the south west of the island, probably the best beach on Fuerteventura. Hire a four wheel drive or book a tour bus from Morro Jable. It gets hot so make sure you wear sunscreen.
