Artipelag, a newly opened arts venue, is the creation of Baby Björn's founder Björn Jakobson. With a location by the water on the island of Värmdö in the Stockholm archipelago - and designed by the the late architect Johan Nyrén - this building, designed in harmony with the cliffs and pine forest, is a work of art in itself. www.artipelag.se

Djurgården island is an oasis of calm, just a few minutes from the city centre. Stroll along the lush paths by the water, jog, go horse riding, or picnic on the grass. There are many restaurants and cafés, and plenty of fun for the children too, such as play-house Junibacken.

Unwind at Yasuragi Hasseludden, a 40-minute bus ride from the centre. Slip into a Japanese-style robe and slippers upon arrival and then take your pick of the treatments or enjoy a Japanese bath, indoors or outdoors. There's also a beautiful Japanese garden (yasuragi.se).
