Menorca Sightseeing

April 2013
Menorca's salt industry was abandoned 30 years ago, but there are plans to revive production of the finest flor de sal at Ses Salines, in the bay of Fornells. See the salt pans for yourself, at Ses Salines or Addaia.

August 2012
Ciutadella's Summer Music Festival combines classical music from internationally renowned performers and a spectacular outdoor concert venue: the seminary's cloisters, sweetly perfumed by flowers in the perfectly manicured gardens. This year's programme includes flamenco, Baroque music and chamber orchestra tunes. Advanced tickets from Foto Born (14 Carrer del Seminari, Ciutadella). Check out jjmmciutadella.com for the programme.

July 2012
The island's summer fiesta season means there are horses to be seen, gin to be drunk and festivities to join every single weekend across the island. Visit Es Migjorn or Sant Climent for small-scale celebrations, try Mahón's party for super-size fiestas with over 100 horses, or elsewhere for something in between.

June 2012
Menorca's fiesta season starts again this month, with celebrations in the name of St. John in Ciutadella. Beyond the party staples (horses and gin drinking), it's worth going for other attractions, such as craft markets, fireworks, live music and the fairground (17-25 June).
