Copenhagen Shopping

Craving a sweet treat this Easter? Head to Torvehallerne (21 Frederiksborggade), Copenhagen's covered food market, where you'll find more than 80 stalls selling food, drink, flowers and irresistible cakes and chocolates. There's also a range of bustling bars and cafés.

Copenhagen shops have fantastic January sales, often offering 50 percent reductions and more on large amounts of stock. Head to the main department stores Illum (52 Østergade) and Magasin (13 Kongens Nytorv) for a guaranteed shopping spree, then explore smaller shops such as Stig P (14 Kronprinsensgade) and Pede & Stoffer (15-19 Klosterstræde) for unique fashion finds.

If you're looking for a piece of local art to take home, head to the meatpacking district, where Galleri Bo Bjerggard (85A Flæsketorvet) and the V1 Gallery (69-71 Flæsketorvet) both sell contemporary Danish and international pieces. For more affordable prints by young Danish artists, swing by CMYK KLD (51 Jægersborggade).

Klassik Moderne Møbelkunst (3 Bredgade) is the place to go if you're looking for second-hand Danish furniture classics. There are designs from all the greats, including Arne Jacobsen, Hans J. Wegner and Finn Juhl with each piece meticulously selected and where necessary restored.
