Start by discovering the Puerto Soller’s harbour where you will find lots of shops and seafood restaurants alongside the boats. Then head 3km inland to the old town of Soller where you’ll find a lively market place and the Museum of Natural Sciences. Tourists should take a ride on the Orange Express tram, which goes up to the Puerto Soller harbour and takes you through the landscape. If you enjoy that ride, then you could take a ride on the vintage wooden Soller Railway Train all the way to Majorca’s capital, Palma - a fabulous destination in its own right. This makes an excellent day out for all the family, with art galleries, Bellver Castle and the stunning La Seu cathedral to explore on a trip to Palma City.
Majorca is famed for being a beach destination and the resort of Puerto Soller won’t disappoint on this front. There are two local beaches to choose from, Repic and Es Traves, joined by a promenade: both are small but charming and great for those who’d rather stay out of the bustle of beach crowds. Why not take a swim in the warm waters or try your hand at water sports? Scuba diving is very popular in Puerto Soller, as is windsurfing. If you don’t want to get wet then there are many options for boat trips from the harbour. In nearby Alcudia you will find another excellent family attraction too – the HidroPark, with water slides, mini golf and a zone for children.
Food in Puerto Soller is varied as you can try local Majorcan dishes such as sobrassada sausage or freshly caught fish. Ribas or Lua are great for seafood, whilst Domenico is popular with families looking for Italian meals.
Entertainment in Puerto Soller
There are several fiestas here throughout the year that you can join in with, including a medieval re-enactment in the second week of May and sports tournaments to celebrate the patron saint of fishing, Saint Peter, on 29th June. Our Lady of Carmen, on 15th July, sees boats being decorated and sailed around the bay. On 24th August you can catch a fireworks display as part of the Saint Bartomeu celebrations.
The night scene in Puerto Soller is not as hectic as the clubbing resorts of Palma or Magaluf, but you can still find places to go for a memorable evening. Discoteca Saint Germain or Randemar are both popular night spots, whilst there are several bars to choose from.
