What to do in Cascais

For some cultural sightseeing on your holiday to Cascais, be sure to check out some of the city’s prominent historical sites. The Museu Condes de Castro Guimarães is a great place to start: a beautifully decorated 19th century mansion that has some fantastic artefacts, antiques and art on display that offer a unique insight into Portuguese life in the 18th and 19th centuries. For a real sense of Portugal’s traditions, you can see bullfights held on Sundays at the ring near the city centre: the Monumental de Cascais.

The Parque Municipal da Gandarinha is a lovely way to spend a quiet day on your Cascais holiday. The pretty park is a great place to take a romantic stroll or even explore the aviaries. If you’re with the kids, why not let them feed the ducks in the nearby pond or visit the playground if you fancy a rest!

If you’re a keen surfer and up for a challenge, try the famous Praia do Guincho on holiday to Cascais. With huge rolling waves this great beach has hosted the World Surfing Championships in the past – making it perfect for experienced surfers. Elsewhere is the Praia da Ribeira beach, the largest in Cascais and nearest the city centre – an ideal location to relax after a day’s sightseeing!
