Sitting on a peninsula in the Tigullio Gulf east of Genoa is the picturesque, half moon shaped seaside village of Portofino. Nature lovers will enjoy an excursion through the Portofino National Park with its network of paths heading towards the mountain or down the coast boasting breathtaking views of the peninsula. The more active will be kept satisfied with numerous hiking trails along the coast and inland which boast some spectacular view. In particular, the Portofino Regional Park has a variety of trees, wildflowers and grasslands will make a great backdrop for your hike.
Spend a day in Santa Margherita - one of the most important towns of the Levante Riviera - boasting a unique atmosphere and an elegant destination to explore. Snuggled around the port, the town shows off an unusual mix of nautical and Belle Epoque styles and offers its visitors a variety of sporting opportunities such as boat-hires and sailing clubs.

A holiday to Portofino: a fine dining experience
Based on traditional Mediterranean cooking, the Ligurian cuisine is renowned for several simple ingredients which, when combined create a delicious combination of flavours; mushrooms, pine nuts, walnuts and copious amounts of herbs.
All recipes found in this beautiful town include Ligurian olive oil with the most famous being a pesto sauce made of basil, pine nuts, garlic, olive oil and Parmesan cheese. Salsa verde, with parsley and pine nuts, is also a favourite amongst the locals to accompany their meat dishes whilst pasta and ravioli is often found in a walnut sauce.
Other specialties which must be tried are the Ligurian Focaccias and pies, in particular a Farinata and Torta Pasqualina and don’t forget the highly recommended Tomaselle- a beef roulade and lamb stew.
