Winter climate in Spain
The diverse make up of Spain's geography means temperatures can vary greatly, although in the major tourist region of the south the winter climate is generally warm throughout the season. Spain can be broadly divided into three climate regions: the north and northeast, which can be rainy and windy in the winter; the central region of Spain, which can have frequent cold spells in the winter, with snow in the mountain regions to make skiing a popular activity; and the favourite tourist destinations in the south which are generally warm and sunny, although there can be the odd day of rainfall.
