London Gatwick Airport Guide

Terminals

We operate flights into and out of two terminals at London Gatwick. Your flight number indicates which terminal applies for your flights:

  • All flight numbers between 8000 – 8999 operate from the North terminal
  • All other flight numbers operate from the South terminal

There is a 24-hour shuttle which will transfer you between terminals in just 2 minutes. This service runs every few minutes and is free.

Passenger notification: If the flight you have booked leaves London Gatwick before 08.30 you can drop off your bags at the airport from 20:00 until midnight the night before. Please always remember to check in online for your flights from 30 days up to 2 hours before the scheduled departure time.

Due to changes in UK security measures we strongly recommend that you arrive at the airport 2 hours before your departure to ensure you have sufficient time to get to your boarding gate.

By road

London Gatwick is approximately 45km (28 miles) south of London. From the M23 motorway, leave at junction 9, or take the A23 London to Brighton road.

By taxi

Taxi services are available outside the terminal buildings. You will find taxi offices in both the North and South terminals. A journey to Central London will take approximately 1 hour.

By rail

GATWICK EXPRESS

Only 30 minutes between Gatwick Airport and central London (giving access to Victoria underground), with trains departing every 15 minutes during the day.

First Capital Connect

Trains run every 15 minutes to Brighton (via Mid Sussex) and to Bedford via East Croydon, London Bridge, St Pancras International and Luton.

There are services to King's Lynn, Peterborough and Cambridge from St Pancras International.

Southern

Northbound trains run to London Victoria via East Croydon and Clapham Junction, and to London Bridge via East Croydon.

Southbound services run to Brighton, Eastbourne, Portsmouth and Southampton.

First Great Western

Services run to Redhill, Guilford and Reading. Money-saving Gatwick Flyaway fares are available.

Tickets for all services must be purchased prior to boarding the train.

By coach

All coach services stop at London Gatwick's coach station on the ground floor of the South Terminal. A transit service operates between the South and North terminals.

The National Express will take you to London Victoria. Journey time is approximately 90 minutes. The last departure from London Gatwick is 22.15 hours.

By bus

Local buses run direct between London Gatwick Airport and destinations including Crawley, Horley, Redhill and Horsham. Buses call at both the North and South terminals.

The four main services running to and from the airport are as follows.

Fastway 10

Stops at City Place, Manor Royal Industrial Area, Crawley town centre, Southgate Avenue, Broadfield and Bewbush.

Bus runs every 8 minutes and is a daily 24 hour service.

Fastway 20

Stops at Horley town centre, Langshott, City Place, Gatwick Road, Three Bridges, Southgate Avenue and Broadfield.

Bus runs every 20 minutes and is a daily service which runs until late.

Route 100

Stops at Redhill, Horley town centre, Court Lodge, Salfords, East Surrey Hospital, Redhill, City Place(certain journeys), Manor Royal Industrial Area, Northgate, Crawley Town Centre and Maidenbower.

Bus runs every 20 minutes and is a daily service running until late.

Gatwick Direct 200

Stops at City Place, Manor Royal Industrial Area, Langley Green, Ifield, Gossops Green, Bewbush, Faygate, Roffey, North Heath and Horsham.

Bus runs every 30 minutes as far as Bewbush and hourly to Horsham. 
Daily from early until late. This service runs from the South Terminal only.

London Luton Airport Guide

Important information
  • Due to a busy summer season the journey to and through the airport might take a bit longer than usual. We therefore strongly recommend that you allow extra time to travel to the airport. If the flight you have booked leaves London Luton before 06.45 (GMT) you can check in from 04.00 (GMT). This gives you the opportunity to miss the early morning rush and have a leisurely breakfast at the airport whilst waiting for your flight to board or pick up some last minute gifts for those waiting to meet you at the other end.

Please be advised that a £1 drop-off fee applies at London Luton Airport for drop off directly outside the airport terminal. Free drop off and 2 minute shuttle bus is available from the mid-term car park and also a pick-up facility offering free parking for 60 minutes. Road improvement works being carried out near the airport and passengers are advised to allow extra travelling time to get to London Luton Airport.

By road

London Luton Airport is only 30 minutes from North London and 15 minutes from London's orbital motorway, the M25. The Airport is just 2 miles from the M1 motorway; exit the motorway at junction 10.

All long term car parking at the airport is conveniently situated within easy reach of the terminal building. Frequent shuttle buses operate between the car parks and the terminal. The charges for long term parking are £12.50 per day.

The short term car park, which is recommended for stays of less than four hours, is within walking distance of the terminal building, and costs £10.50 for up to 2 hours.

The "Smart Park" area, which is ideal for busy executives, is situated adjacent to the terminal building, and costs £12.00 for 24 hours.

By taxi

By rail

The First Capital Connect service operates between central London and Luton Airport Parkway train station. First Capital Connect takes you between London and Luton Airport Parkway in as little as 32 minutes. From the train station you catch the shuttle bus which travels every ten minutes between 05.00 and midnight and which takes you direct to the airport terminal in around ten minutes. The service also connects with all trains calling at Luton Airport Parkway overnight. Rail passengers will be able to purchase through tickets to London Luton Airport. Those passengers arriving at Luton Airport Parkway station without a through ticket to the airport and who wish to use the shuttle bus will pay an Excess Charge of £1.00 each way if they arrive at the station by train.

Passengers arriving at the airport or at the station without purchasing a rail ticket will pay a bus fare of £1.50 single, £2.50 Standard Day Return and £3.00 Standard Open Return (children pay half price).

The First Capital Connect line also connects London Luton Airport and Gatwick Airport.

East Midlands Trains operate a service from London to the East Midlands and Yorkshire. St Pancras is its London terminal.

Services from St Pancras to London Luton Parkway take approximately 20 minutes.

Virgin Rail Link is an express service to Milton Keynes Station. From Milton Keynes Station you can take the dedicated Virgin Trains Express Coach directly to London Luton Airport.

The coach times have been conveniently timed to connect with the trains.

This service is hourly, starting from early in the morning until late at night, seven days a week.

By coach

Green Line 757 offers a great value, fast, frequent and reliable coach service from pick-up points directly outside the London Luton Airport terminal direct to central London.

Green Line's round-the-clock service is operated by a fleet of modern air condition vehicles, driven by a team of friendly drivers, happy to help with luggage and any queries you may have.

London Stansted Airport Guide

By road:
If you're driving to Stansted or into central London, follow signs to the M11; the M11 also links with the M25 circling London and major motorways.

By rail:

Save up to 10% by pre-booking the Stansted Express! Only 45 minutes between Stansted Airport and central London (giving access to the underground), its the fastest route into town with trains departing every 15 minutes during the day.

National Express operates services to London Stratford and Lea Valley stations.

The train runs hourly (off peak) stopping at all the main stations along the way from Lea Valley to London Stratford (Stansted Mountfitchet, Bishops Stortford, Sawbridgeworth, Harlow Mill, Harlow Town, Roydon, Broxbourne, Cheshunt, Enfield Lock, Angel Road, Northumberland Park, Tottenham Hale and Stratford). This service operates Monday to Saturday only.

CrossCountry operates services to the Midlands and the North, including stops at Audley End, Cambridge, Ely, Peterborough, Leicester and Birmingham.

At Peterborough you can connect to Leeds, York, Newcastle and Scotland; and at Leicester for Derby and Sheffield.

This service operates seven days a week with the first weekday train departing London Stansted at 05:27 Monday to Saturday and 09:34 on Sundays. The last train to Cambridge departs London Stansted 20:20 Monday to Saturday and 22:20 on Sundays.

Terravision runs two convenient express coach shuttle services between Stansted and central London. The service to Liverpool Street has a journey time of approximately 55 minutes and the service to Victoria takes approximately 75 minutes. Save time and money by booking on line before you fly!.

The Airbus service operates between Stansted Airport and central London via Golder's Green, with a journey time of approximately 1 hour 35 minutes. The service runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Buses run every 30 minutes from early morning until late at night, and hourly during the night.

Please allow at least an hour between your scheduled Airbus arrival time and your check in time at the airport. Airbus cannot be held responsible for delays caused by adverse traffic or weather conditions.

First X30 goes to Southend, Rayleigh and Chelmsford every hour , seven days a week with the first departure from Southend at 02:00, arriving at Stansted at 03:32 and last bus from Stansted leaving at 01:30. The service is operated from Bay 28 of the Coach Station.

First X22 Coachlink goes to Colchester and the University of Essex via Braintree Freeport, Marks Tey rail station, Colchester North station, Colchester bus station and University of Essex. Service runs seven days a week. First bus from Colchester 02:35 (new early morning service), last bus from Stansted Airport 00:00 (midnight). Provides a great link to Ipswich and Norwich rail stations. Journey time is approximately 75 minutes.

London Southend Airport Guide

By road:
London Southend Airport is located approximately 35 miles from Canary Wharf and approximately 40 miles from central London. The distance from the M25 orbital motorway is 18 miles.

By rail:

Southend Airport Rail Station is due to open on 18th July 2011. Operating between London Liverpool Street Station and Southend Victoria these services all stop at Stratford where there are connections through the Jubilee Line and Docklands Light Railway with Canary Wharf and Docklands.

For travellers from Tilbury and the South Essex Coast or preferring to connect to/from Fenchurch Street Station in central London, there is a second choice of rail line into central Southend (Southend Central).
