Jersey Restaurants

Perhaps Jersey’s foodie reputation has something to do with its rich soil, fertile farmlands and gentle climate. It’s certainly a reflection of its island status and the super-fresh seafood that surrounds it. Jersey’s thriving food culture embraces everything from bistros to beach cafés, fine dining to gastropubs and you’ll find quality everywhere you go, from the humblest café to Michelin-starred restaurants.

Jersey’s clear waters, warmed by the Gulf Stream, produce an abundance of top-quality shellfish, including crabs, lobsters, mussels, scallops and oysters. Sample the restaurants in St Aubin, Gorey and St Helier for Jersey plaice, sea bass, monkfish and mackerel.

The island’s prized Jersey Royal New Potatoes aren’t the only crop (but they really do taste delicious and different). There are lots of vegetables and fruits that are grown in the island, along with tasty, local dairy produce from Jersey cows, including rich milk, cream and butter, ice creams, yoghurt, crème fraîche and organic milk.

With hundreds of cafés and restaurants to choose from, you’ll never be far from a dining experience that can be tailored to suit your needs, from an intimate meal for two to a beachside café that is as family-friendly as it comes.

The Treehouse
 A large, friendly family pub and restaurant serving top-notch Italian food at reasonable prices. Crisp pizzas, comforting lasagnes and proper pasta are on the menu alongside burgers and rotisserie chicken. Children are well-served with a choice of toddler or child portions - and they will be kept busy, too, in the indoor softplay or outdoor playground.

The Cabana
A small restaurant that's big on heart. Free-range eggs, home-cured bacon and artisan bread baked in-house makes for the tastiest of breakfasts. Or pop in for a lunch of Rib-Eye steak sandwich or Jerk chicken burger. Thai food is available on Wednesday - Sunday from 5pm to 9pm.

Affordable Restaurants

The Square
This is a stylish, vibrant venue in the popular Weighbridge area. Expect hearty portions of smoked, spiced ribs, seared steaks or local lobster. The global menu lets you choose the cuisine you favour - opt for a Spanish chorizo, mussel, tiger prawn and saffron paella, a Thai crispy pork belly with spicy peanut and cucumber salad or a very British battered cod and chip. Decor is upmarket and elegant. Service is super friendly.

The Bass and Lobster Foodhouse
As the name suggests, seafood and fish is a speciality at this stylish restaurant close to Gorey Castle. Innovative dishes champion local produce, such as pan-fried fillet of cod topped with cheddar and herb crust served with a spring onion and squash risotto cake or brill with Jersey Royals, wild mushrooms, tiger prawns and a seafood cream. The steaks are also highly recommended.
