Check out Bournemouth's Gardens of Light Christmas Festival, when Bournemouth's Lower Gardens will be beautifully illuminated, with art installations and a floodlit outdoor ice rink. Just a 20-minute drive from Bournemouth, the New Forest is the best place to go for a wonderfully bracing walk in the woods. It's all thatched cottages and leafy lanes, and look out for the ponies and deer, too.
