Seville Sightseeing

Sightseeing

Housed in a sumptuous former convent, much of the art on display at the Museo de Bellas Artes celebrates the city's leading role during Spain's 17th century Golden Age with works by Murillo, Zurbarán and Velázquez.

It's the main event on the annual calendar, the April feria (fair) is a flamboyant and colourful weeklong carnival with flamenco, horses, playground rides for the kids and carafe loads of fiesta spirit. Follow the polka dots and prepare to party.

The annual procession for the Three Kings (Jan 5th) is particularly colourful in Seville; the pavements throughout the historic city centre are thronged with exuberant families following the giant floats through the streets. Expect a fabulous festive atmosphere.

Key Areas

Be sure to visit one of Andalucia's most beautiful city parks: the Parque Maria Luisa offers a welcome respite from the clamour of the city. Wander among duck ponds, leafy avenues, museums and cafes, and don't miss the dreamy Plaza de España with its fountains, mini canal and stunning traditional tile work.

Day Trips

Lovely Osuna is located just an hour away on the A92 and sprung into the spotlight in 2014 as the surprise filming location for the TV Game of Thrones hit. Wander the streets to marvel at the magnificent Renaissance architecture.

Take a trip to Ayamonte on the Rio Guadiana and a cheerful border town. You can take a ferry from here to Portugal´s Vila Real de Santo António, another delightful destination with its seafood restaurants fronting the water.

Osuna is around one hour journey away and offers visitors a chance to enjoy the largely unsung glories of the town's magnificent baroque mansions and renaissance palaces and monasteries. No surprise then that part of Games of Thrones was filmed here...
