Key Areas

The pedestrian streets around the cathedral in the Old Town are full of bars, cafes, restaurants and life. It's a great place for a stroll and a spot of tapas or a meal.

Visit the Plaza de las Flores for the wonderful flower market, then try a spot of tapas in the traditional bars which surround the emblematic square

Day Trips

Cross the short distance to the Mar Menor for an interesting day out in San Pedro del Pinatar. Bird watchers and walkers will be delighted by the regional park, with the protected area centred on the salt lagoons which still produce the white stuff to line the roads and for domestic use. There are great footpaths in the park, some leading to bird hides. The town and port have some excellent restaurants for lunch or dinner.

Around 40 minutes away on the coast is the port town of Torrevieja. With a number of blue flag beaches, top class fish restaurants and long promenades along the coast, this is good choice for an enjoyable day out.
