Fuerteventura Sightseeing


This international festival has been held since 1987. For three days El Burro beach sees over one hundred participants fly bright kites and turn the sky into a colourful show. 9 to 12 November.

See the fantastic cactus garden at La Lajita , combine it with a visit to the islands zoo next door. Free transport from most resorts. Full day excursion.

Don't miss Canary Day on 30 May. Cultural entertainment in the whole of the island. Most towns will have activities, dancing, music and local food and drink for sampling.. Look for posters in your resort with details.

King's day on the evening 5th January. The three kings parade down the streets on Camels in the main towns to collect the gift request for the following day. Children line the streets to collect sweets that they throw out.

Key Areas

Travel to the south of the island on a free bus. You can visit the zoo or check out an amazing cactus garden.

Visit El Cotillo on the eve of 1st July. All night music on the beach. Dance the night away under the stars. Camping and refreshments available.

Corpus Christi is held mid June. Preparations will be seen days before as locals of all ages paint the streets with biblical pictures. Many streets are lined with flowers. When completed Catholic children take confirmation and then walk through the pictures in their beautiful clothes.

Visit Gran Tarajal, the second-most-populated town in Fuerteventura. The key feature is the volcano rising up to make an amazing backdrop. This typically Spanish town has many shops and restaurants predominantly owned by Canarians. The black beach and long promenade is a stunning setting for a good day out.
