Alicante Sightseeing

Christmas is very important in Catholic Spain so join in the candlelit processions of Christmas Eve in the villages and towns when the Three Kings bring presents to the children in the churches.

Explore the old village of Villajoyosa, which means Joyful Village. There's the fishing port where the nets are repaired and spread to dry and the colorful houses spread along the beach frontage. Try the local restaurants for Paella Valenciana and take a stroll along the new beach areas.

Take a tour of Alicante's Santa Barbara castle. The entrance to the lift is on the beach road. Visit the castle museum to see the weapons of war in those times.

See the Roman ruins along the shore in Calpe, with Roman fishtanks, the mosaic floor of an excavated villa and the mermaid carved in the rock at the fish pools.

Key Areas

Take a tram to Campello, south of Benidorm, and enjoy miles of sandy beach with restaurants and bars at your service on the beachside road which runs up to San Juan de Alicante.

Join a mountain trek among the mountains behind the coastal plain. You'll need a water bottle and heavy boots. All walks are graded and monitored by experts so you'll be in safe hands.
