Budapest has become a bit coffee-crazed lately, with many new designer coffee bars appearing. One of the newest is Espresso Embassy, where you are guaranteed a perfect espresso, and you may even meet one of their frequently visiting guest baristas.

This classic café is not far from the Opera House, and was recently gorgeously refurbished. Come anytime of the day for coffee and cake, or a glass of wine or brandy. Sit here long enough and you could almost imagine that you are back in the pre-war, coffee-house golden age.

Palack
Sample some of Hungary's amazing local wines at the Palack wine bar (the name translates as “bottle”). Be sure not to leave Hungary without trying a glass of volcanic Furmint or smooth Portugieser.
