The view from the archeological site of Ancient Thira - on a mountain rising above the resort of Kamari - is breathtaking. So too are the remains of this Doric town, which include streets, squares, houses and a small theatre.

On Mesa Vouno, a hill overlooking Kamari, you'll discover the ruins of a town dating back to the 9th century BC. Take plenty of water for the walk up the steep, winding road.

If you fancy a rejuvenating swim, the natural hot baths in Santorini's bay are a short boat trip away. At the Kameni islets you can walk across these rocky volcanic outcrops then take a well deserved dip in the waters.

A visit to Santorini's hot springs is a must. Spend your afternoon trekking or bathing on the neighbouring islets of Palea Kameni and Nea Kameni, which were formed in the sparkling bay hundreds of years ago. Ferries depart from the Old Port below Fira town.
