June 2012
The ruins of the Asklepieion, one of the ancient world's largest health spas, occupy terraces overlooking Turkey 4km south of Kos Town. Cycle there or take the fake train. Open daily in season until 6.30pm, funding permitting.

May 2012
The galleried undercroft of Kos Town's second-century odeon, originally full of shops, has been sensitively restored and illuminated as a mini-museum on Roman odeia in general (and this one in particular), with extensive displays and a video.

Key Areas

March 2013
The Bros Therma hot springs lie 9km south-west of Kos Town. Once the winter storms are over, locals rebuild the shoreline boulder pool, which mixes scalding spring water with the sea to reach an agreeable temperature. Popular by night, especially around the full moon.

October 2012
WIth temperatures down, autumn is the best time to climb Khristos peak in the Oromedon range. The trail up from Zia is clear, and the views from the summit unbeatable.
