the Phare de Biarritz, overlooking the ocean. Walk to the top of Avenue L'imperatrice for a perfect view. Then continue your walk right up to the lighthouse, where you'll find a well-kept park to take a rest after te 750 steps up! There's also small café selling tasty snacks and drinks.


a film or live debate at the 30th FIPA festival. The international audiovisual festival has an extensive programme of events, from 24th to 29th January. Tickets for the entire event cost €25 each or €40 for two. Find out more at http://www.fipa.tv/en/.

Key Areas


to the annual Village des Bodegas on August 14th and 15th in the Port des Pêcheurs. Lots of stalls and tents selling delicious food and drink, with live music, dancing and a general party atmosphere for all ages.


to Villages des Casetas between 23rd and 28th June. This mini festival opens the summer season in Biarritz with live music, D.J's, food and drink. A great party atmosphere for families and groups of friends right next to the beach. At the weekend it's open all day as well as evenings.

Day Trips


to the nearby Medieval city of Bayonne with its riverside pathways lined with cafés and bars and its historical monuments. Whether you like gothic cathedrals and castles or museums dedicated to art, crafts and ancient traditions, Bayonne has got something for everyone. The stab bus takes about 20 minutes and costs a couple of euros.


along the coast to the nearby fishing village of Saint Jean du Luz. The 816 bus runs regularly throughout the day and the trip takes around 30 mins. Lots of great places to eat and drink and some trendy, artisan shops in the Old Quarters.
