Copenhagen Nightlife

Kontiki & Færgen Ellen
This floating bar is the perfect place to enjoy an al-fresco cocktail in the summer months. Located on a boat moored behind the Opera House, you can sit out on the deck for drinks and snacks, or enjoy a full meal inside the cabin. The biodynamic wines here are top-notch for the price-point.

Set in historic rooms once occupied by the master toy-maker and silversmith Kay Bojesen, this chic champagne bar is a luxurious addition to Copenhagen's canalside haunts. If bubbles aren't to your taste, fear not; the wine list also includes some hard-to-find vintages with real edge, hand-picked by the smart sommeliers during regular trips to France, Germany and Italy.

Address: Nybrogade 14 | Telephone: +45 33 32 03 03 |

Forget the wine list; this vibrant new Italian wine and tapas bar in affluent Østerbro lets you try before you buy - a refreshingly generous offer in a city where even a bottle of sub-par house red can be eye-poppingly pricey.

Haven Bar
This pop-up gastropub is a collaboration between two of the biggest names in Danish food and drink - Mikkeller (craft beer demigod) and Claus Meyer (the inventor of New Nordic cuisine) - and it's a match made in foodie heaven. Housed in The Standard - Meyer's former ferry station-turned diner/concert venue - it's ideally located right on the harbour, and will act as the warm-up venue for many of the acts due to play at the two day Haven Festival in August.

Address: Havnegade 44 | Telephone: +45 72 14 88 08 |

Brewers Inc.
Taking the concept of guest ale to a whole new level, this one-of-a-kind brewpub invites budding home brewers to audition their creations to an in-house panel of hopheads - with the ultimate prize of seeing their creation join the pro brews on the taps.

Address: Gormsgade 25 | Telephone: N/A |

This cavernous den of iniquity in Kongens Nytorv oozes class, perfectly complementing the grandiose Theatre Royal next door. Everything about the decor - from the heavy velvet drapes to the glittering chandeliers - recalls a bygone era, yet while the cocktails take their cues from the classics, there's plenty here to interest the more adventurous drinker.

Address: August Bournonvilles Passage 1 | Telephone: +45 88 44 04 04 |

Leave your inhibitions at the door at this shrine to controversial Danish artist Kristian von Horsleth, whose provocative sex-and-death imagery adorns every nook and cranny of this sprawling city centre club. While definitely not for the prudish, the sheer high-end decadence of the place will make this a night out to remember.   http://www.hornslethbar.dk/
