Support our bid to make National Shakespeare Day a recognised day in the UK calendar.
Shakespeare performances on our flights will feature as part of a nationwide campaign to make Shakespeare Day an officially recognised event on the UK’s calendar.
We call upon Bard lovers everywhere to help us raise 100,000 online signatures in order for there to be a debate in the UK parliament to make 23 April national Shakespeare Day. The signatures will be submitted to the British parliament in time for the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth on 23 April. “Shakespeare’s legacy is at the heart of culture, not just in Britain, but across Europe and the rest of the world, and easyJet is proud to be supporting the campaign for there to be a national day in his honour,” says Paul Moore, Communications Director of easyJet. “We hope our UK passengers lend their support, and that those from Europe come to the UK to discover more about him and celebrate his legacy.
We’ll be supporting the campaign with a performance on board by the Reduced Shakespeare Company on the way to Verona, the picturesque Italian setting of Romeo and Juliet. Mini Shakespeare performances will take place at some of our UK airports during the busy check-in periods”.
The petition is open to UK residents only.
