Brezovica is one of the best ski resorts in the former Yugoslavia, just 70km south of Pristina. The slopes are excellent, and the accommodation, restaurants and bars are improving, but do check in advance to see if the chair lifts are running regularly (brezovica-ski.com).

Walk in the hills in Novo Brdo, 40km east of town, where you'll find hiking trails, mountain bike rental, basic rural guesthouses, traditional food and disarming hospitality. (www.tourism-novobrdo.com).
