Zurich Shopping

(2 Lagerstrasse) Head to the ground floor of the Sihlpost (post office) building to go hunting for urban accessories, be it fashion, hand-crafted ceramics or art. Before it becomes a building site, this space will act as a design enclosure.

Just next to the main train station, the newly opened shopping mall Europaallee Passage puts an emphasis on outdoor gear and fashion. Ideal to finally put together your new winter sports outfit (europaallee.ch).

Zurich-born designers Guya Marini and Carmen D'Apollonio make knitwear and compose crocheted silk foulards - the signature item of their label Iko Tschüss. All the knitting and crochetting is done by hand by "a network of grandmothers and home-based workers". Extravagant! (25 Ankestrasse, tel: 043 243 3738)

To get some sinful Swiss chocolate, go to Läderach Chocolatier Suisse. You even get an insight into the confectioner's craft here, as some of the chocolate on offer is actually produced on site (106 Bahnhofstrasse).
