Lanzarote's gruelling Ironman race takes place on 18 May. The event kicks off at 7am with a 3.8km swim at Playa Grande, Puerto del Carmen, followed by a 180km bicycle race around the island and a 42km run to the finish line.

Carnival is a very big deal in Lanzarote and lasts nearly a whole month! The biggest party takes place in Arrecife culminating on 12 February (the traditional burial of the sardine is the following day!). It then moves on to Puerto del Carmen on 17 February followed by Costa Teguise and then Playa Blanca.
