(Via Giordano Bruno, Ostuni) Head to Seconda Vita, an Aladdin's cave full of second-hand treasures. Literally anything can be found and nothing is off-limits. This writer was tempted by the 19th-century carriage and bridle set, but instead walked away with a set of beautifully engraved crystal glasses and a 1960s scarf for less than â¬20.
You must, must, must do the markets. The best are the huge markets just outside Brindisi on thursday and in Ostuni on saturday. They cover food and fashion and are a fun excursion for anyone of any age. Be warned: get there early as they have packed up by lunchtime.
Brindisi's markets are something to behold. On Thursday the city's main market is your best best, brilliant for shoes and bags. On Saturday head for Ostuni market, known for its clothes and delicious food. Get there early!
