Home to several species of marine life, a popular local past time during the summer is spotting the Basking Sharks, who gather to mate and feed. The waters around the Isle of Man are also home to many species of whale and dolphin. Seals can also be spotted in large groups. Just outside Douglas, which is the capital, you will find Groudle Glen. It is home to its very own steam railway which only travels as far as three-quarters of a mile along the cliff top. Local produce is of the highest standard, which is what you would expect with the clear blue sea and beautiful countryside. Lamb, crab, lobster, kippers (which are naturally cured over oak chips) and real ales brewed with no artificial ingredients, just like real beer should be, are among the best you’ll ever taste! You won’t find it hard to find a café, restaurant or wine bar on the island which offers cuisine to suit every taste. Whether it’s a quick snack or gourmet dining you’re after, you’ll find it on the Isle of Man. You'll also find locally produced ice creams, chocolate, mineral water and Manx Spirit, 'a drop of the hard stuff'.
