A few kilometres from the snow cover on Teide’s peak, the barren Wild West landscape was used for many spaghetti westerns and one of the most famous films of all time: The Planet of the Apes.

The arid side of the island to the south of Teide is now a fun-fair of enjoyment, while a verdant valley in the north offers a splash of rain, culture and genuine island life.

Few places can guarantee as many days of sunshine as the southern tip of Tenerife. The desert here is full of red hibiscus flowers and elegantly swaying palms. Ingenious irrigation and a vibrant beach life have turned Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas into holiday towns.
