Dresden, located on the River Elbe, was once known as "Florence on the Elbe,” It was a place celebrated throughout Europe for its architecture and art treasures. It is currently undergoing a major restoration process, however It is still a popular destination for sightseeing and culture and is home to many world class museums.

During your visit to Dresden, a stroll around the Großer Garten (Great Garden) is highly recommended. Only a few minutes from the city centre, this beautiful garden, which has a small castle in the middle, is a place regularly visited by the locals to relax, walk through, go rollerblading or to take a small rowing boat out on the Carolasee.
For an unforgettable experience, after a long day of sightseeing, visit the Semper Opera, it is a good idea to book your tickets well in advance.

There are many restaurants scattered throughout the city, so you will not have any difficulty finding a place to eat – you may just find it difficult to choose which restaurant! If you visit the eastern part of town, you will find lots of quaint cafés and Volkshäuser that serve great food.
