Rijeka

Rijeka is located on one of the sunniest coasts of the Mediterranean against a magnificent backdrop of the mountainous Primorsko-Goranska. This area has had over a hundred years of tourism, and is the most widely developed tourist area of Croatia. Rijeka itself has a very strong industrial economy, preventing it from becoming an exclusively tourist city, but it strongly caters for business travellers with several trade fairs a year.

Rijeka grew around Rijeka Bay, a natural harbour, and has developed into Croatia’s biggest port. The rugged coastline with its many sheltered bays provides a beautiful backdrop for lazy days spent in the sun – Kvarner Bay and the Istrian Riviera are responsible for 50% of tourism in Croatia.

As a result of its location on the coast Rijeka has a lively aquatic sports scene. Sailing, diving, windsurfing, water polo, and sea fishing are just some of the activities offered. And only 30 kms away the mountains offer endless possibilities for hiking, mountaineering, hill walking, hunting, etc.
