Edinburgh airport information

Edinburgh Airport is located just to the west of Scotland's capital city. It is within easy access to the country's main road network, reaching the whole of central Scotland and beyond, so if you're on a short break to Edinburgh you won't spend much time travelling to and from your accommodation in Edinburgh or the surrounding areas.

Edinburgh by road

Road access to the airport is easy from the two-level junction on the A8 midway between the Gogar and Newbridge roundabouts. If approaching from the Edinburgh side join the A8 from the city bypass and proceed towards Glasgow. From the North and West you should join the A8 at the Newbridge roundabout and proceed towards Edinburgh. Follow signs for airport.

The short term car park is situated immediately outside the terminal, and prices can be found on the Edinburgh airport website. The long term car park is a short shuttle bus ride away, and costs £5.30 per 24 hours.

Edinburgh by taxi

A taxi rank offering private transfers or black city cabs can be found outside at the east end of the terminal building.

Journey time to the city centre takes approximately 25 minutes.

Edinburgh by rail

Edinburgh's main railway station (Waverley) is in the city centre and can be reached by taxi or bus. There are services to Glasgow and a variety of other destinations in Scotland and England. Most train services also operate from Edinburgh Haymarket Station situated on the bus routes from Edinburgh Airport to the city centre. For information call 08457 484 950.

Buses to the city centre and the surrounding areas can be found outside the terminal building.

Airlink 100

This is an express bus service which runs from the airport to Waverely Bridge (close to the main bus and rail stations and Princes Street).

Tickets can be purchased at the information desk inside the terminal building, at the bus stop or from the driver.

Buses leave every 10 minutes and journey takes approximately 25 minutes. A single fare costs £3 and a return £5. Bus leaves from stand 19.

Night bus N22

This service runs to the city centre via South Gyle. The first service leaves at 00.47 and the last at 04.13, 7 nights a week.

Journey time is approximately 28 minutes.

Edinburgh Shuttle

This minibus services holds 7 passengers and runs every 15-30 minutes. it will take you to anywhere within the City Zone (including hotel addresses).

A single fare costs £9, however there is a reduction for passengers travelling together.
