Our requirement for at least 500 hrs in a multi-crew commercial environment will stand but we will, from now on, exercise discretion on Total Time. Please be aware though that, whilst 500 hrs becomes the minimum requirement, it is very much a minimum requirement and will not automatically qualify any pilot for invitation to assessment.
Our current requirements
In order to meet the demands of our rapid expansion plans, we continue to recruit high numbers of pilots, both type rated and non-type rated. Our basic requirements are as follows:
Please note that if you hold a European National JAA licence, you will have to exchange it for a UK JAA licence before you start with us. This is due to training purposes (mainly for our TRE's to be able to sign for the type rating endorsement on your licence). The process for the exchange involves filling an application form, sending copies of your licence and medical certificate along with an administration fee, which you will have to find.
Entry Requirements
Direct Entry Captains need a minimum of 3000 factorised hours total and a minimum of 500 factorised hours in command of a medium to heavy commercial jet (current command).
Co-Pilots need a minimum of 500 hours multi-crew commercial experience ranging from medium/heavy turboprop to medium/heavy jets or military background (heavy transport, fast jet or multi crew rotary).
Senior First Officers (SFO's) have an unfrozen ATPL.
First Officers (FO's) have a frozen ATPL (CPL + ATPL theory).
Please note that there is only a limited number of spaces this year through our Direct Entry Scheme and the majority of positions will be available through our TRSS scheme. Due to availability on courses, priority will be given to candidates applying for our TRSS scheme.
More information on the TRSS Scheme is available here.
To qualify as a 737 or A319 type rated pilot, we prefer a minimum of 500 hours on type within the last 5 years.
For those wishing to start an airline career as a pilot, but not yet in possession of a pilots licence, we are, in association with our training partner CTC, able to offer a sponsorship scheme that (dependant on growth plans) will enable up to 24 applicants a year to achieve their dream. This exciting commitment by easyJet to the career development of young people will enable a select few to benefit from a highly extensive training process.
Application for this sponsorship opportunity is only available through CTC's website www.ctcaviation.com/wings - please do not apply directly to easyJet for this scheme. More information on the CTC Cadet Sponsorship Programme can be found here.
For pilots with a frozen ATPL but less than 500 hours total experience we continue to take a small number of entrants through CTC's ATP Scheme – please visit CTC's website to learn more about the ATP Scheme.
Of course, as we are expanding at such a high rate, our requirements may change - we will keep you updated on those requirements through this website.
